This headset is able to do very well when paired with a Bluetooth 4.0 device like the iPhone 5.Outgoing audio quality is arguably one of the biggest problems with Bluetooth headsets, and from all my tests, the quality on this headset is outstanding. When playing music from my MacBook Pro with Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, I would hear very frequent crackling, almost like the beginning of a well worn LP track. Nothing appeared to be hacked together, as all functions appeared to be properly and fully implemented.The audio quality can be affected noticeably when connected to older Bluetooth devices. The headphones come in a nice package, complete with very good instructions for how to put them together. If using BAU Universal Bluetooth Adapter put into pair mode also (see BAU manual). Put the headphones into pair mode as outlined on prior page. In iOS, a battery meter appears that shows the battery level of the headset. Place headphones and mobile phone within 1 meter (3 feet) of each other. The volume controls affect the sound output of the iPhone, and all playback controls work, demonstrating proper compatibility. The audio is clear, plenty loud, and offers good frequency response when properly seated in your ears. Past purchases experienced frequent disconnections, choppy audio, less than fully compatible playback and phone controls, and/or short battery life.The headset paired easily and quickly with my iPhone 5, and sounded great. How did the BlueBuds X perform? In a word, remarkably. With the headset paired and the earbuds attached and positioned in my ears, I cranked up the audio, and listened to everything from podcasts and audio books to rock, classical, and electronic musics. It's a nice touch that shows how BlueBud X's designers expended extra effort to polish the initial customer experience. These helpful voice announcements occur whenever a Bluetooth connection is made or lost as well as when powering on or off. The pairing process took just a few seconds thanks to BlueBuds ' built-in voice (what Jaybird calls their Jenna voice prompts). Duly impressed by the lightweight, self-contained nature of the headset, I was eager to pair them to my phone and see how they would perform with a variety of audio sources.
